Apple Pay was launched in October 2014 to make the payments of goods and services with their iPhones in the stores using feature of NFC chip. It is a simplest payment process done with your debit cards and credit cards with just a touch. People can also purchase goods online using apps that include Group on, Open Table, Starbucks, Target, Uber, Disney, Instacard, Ticket.com, MLB.com, Expedia and more. And now you can use Apple Pay as a simple and secure method to make donations to your favorite non-profit organisations.

In 2015, Kohl’s turn out to be the first retail store to allow Apple Pay to be used with its in store credit cards and where you can use Apple Pay to make purchases in Kohl’s retail stores now. In 2016, Kohl’s then became the first retailer that support both store payments and rewards with a single click in Apple Pay which allows users to get rewards points while using their Kohl’s cards without the need for a second Apple Pay transaction. BJ’s Wholesale Club Credit Cards started working with Apple Pay in December, 2015.

As Apple Pay is based on existing NFC technology its service works in hundreds of thousands of locations that carry contactless payments in the countries where Apple Pay is accepted.

Major retailers/partners support Apple Pay and this payment platform launched to begin with a wide variety of stores and restaurants and now the list continues to grow. Major chains of Apple Pay include McDonald’s, Staples, Subway, Whole Foods, Macy’s, Disney Store, Best Buy, B&H Photo, Bloomingdales, Chevron, Dunkin Donuts, GameStop, KFC, Trader Joe’s Sprouts and much more list of Apple Pay stores.

Apple has joined with some universities to offer Apple Pay in their campus stores and restaurants. The University of Oklahoma became the first schools to provide the mobile payment service of Apple Pay and now till 2017 most of the campuses has adopted the payments service ‘Apple Pay’.

In November 2016, Apple has taking place by allowing non-profit organizations to accept Apple Pay service to facilitate easier donations from the apps or web. In US and UK the non profit charity donations can made using Apple Pay.

Some of the Non profit organisations till 2017 are Save the Children, Charity water, American Red Cross, COPD foundation, Global Giving, world vision, WNET, Red and more all over the world where Apple Pay service is available.

Apple is selling a mobile NFC card reader by partnering with Pay Anywhere that connect to iOS devices to support Apple Pay transactions in every retail location.

In 2015, Square launched an Apple Pay compatible NFC reader to accept payments made with Apple Pay which is more beneficial for small business owners.

Customers of Bank of America can now use Apple Pay to make easy withdrawals from many ATMs of Bank of America all over the United States.

Also, Walgreens was the first company that support the Apple Pay loyalty program. The customers of Walgreens can add their Walgreens rewards cards to the Wallet where they can be utilize like any other credit or debit card through the checkout process to earn rewards points and offers.

If we talk about the banks, Apple added more than two dozen U.S. banks in 2017 and has partnered with credit card companies such as MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express and major banks signed are American express, HSBC, Capital One, Bank of America and more.

Recently in 2017, it is said that some 4 million locations and about 35% of all retail stores in the United States now accepts Apple Pay mobile payment option.
